Be Prepared With a CCIE Written Boot Camp

To those interested in moving to the next level in their IT career, the Cisco career path is one that offers job security plus an exclusive place among the Internets cutting edge technologies. Cisco is continually buying up companies with the most innovative technology, thus ensuring their spot in global networking domination. Cisco is shaping the future of internetworking security, wireless networking all while continually pushing their previous records on speed and routing of data.

To make it to the top with this dynamic team you need to begin the journey with a single step. To prove their ability many IT engineers pursue certifications to demonstrate their knowledge and ability. The CCIE certification is the highest and most difficult of all the Cisco certifications to attain and this is the goal of many ambitious IT inter-networking pros. A CCIE written boot camp will help you unravel some of the challenges to the CCIE certification.

The focus of the CCIE written boot camp is to enable emerging experts with navigating the details of Cisco’s’ products as well as inter-networking diagnostic procedures. To become CCIE certified you need to pass a written exam first and then the 8 hour Cisco lab. As you enter into the preparation for the CCIE exam, you will find engineers from different levels of experience and yet all must come up to speed and learn the same material. The CCIE instructor will work with each student to bridge any gaps that may exist between the CCNA and CCNP levels to arrive at the eventual goal of CCIE lab preparation.

The First Step to the CCIE Certification

The CCIE written boot camp is initially designed to help the engineer with the theoretical portion of the material, without this there is no point in moving on to the more technical and challenging lab exam. After completing the CCIE written boot camp the engineer will be able to:

• Explain and Diagnose the AP joining process
• Explain and Diagnose AP to WLC control messages
• Explain and Diagnose wireless client communications
• Explain and Diagnose security configurations, between clients and the infrastructure, and within the infrastructure
• Understand specific requirements and configurations: VoWLAN, location, mobility, site survey, specific WLAN applications
• Explain and Diagnose infrastructure specific configurations: QoS, routing, multicast, STP.
• Explain and Diagnose autonomous AP configurations
• Describe WCS and WLC configurations

A CCIE written boot camp participant can expect to be tested at a computer terminal in a multiple choice fashion. The tests last 2 hours and are available at hundreds of locations around the world. Once you pass the written or computer based testing you have 18 months to go for the final CCIE lab exam. You need to pass the written exam before you are allowed to schedule the final CCIE lab exam.

CCIE Testing Details

The cost of the written exam is $350; it is only available through a Cisco authorized testing center. By looking online you can find a testing center in your area easily. Usually when you schedule a CCIE written boot camp they will also be giving you the test with the conclusion of the boot camp and this price should be factored into the boot camps enrollment fee. If you fail this test you must wait 5 days to be retested. After you complete the test successfully you are not allowed to retake the same test for ½ year.
